YellowPages App Wins “Best in Mobile” at the 2011 Digi Awards

It’s one of these things that makes you love what you do. 2011 was a good year for our mobile products. This was the icing on the cake.

Last December, I’ve showed up (with my boss) at the 2011 Digi Awards gala, an event organized by Achilles Media. Being shortlisted as finalist was already a great news. Let’s say I was  hoping for the best but wasn’t expecting too much giving the quality of the other products that were on that list (they don’t notify the winners  in advance…)

We were shortlisted in two categories:

  • “Best in Mobile” for YellowPages application
  • “Most Innovative Media Technology” for our open platform, YellowAPI.com

Here’s the list of shortlisted entries  (in all categories)

We ended up winning “Best in Mobile”.

Was speechless.

Wow.

From the Press Release:

“We’re delighted to be recognized for this achievement amongst the Canadian digital media elite,” said Nicolas Gaudreau, Vice President – Digital & Print Media, Acquisition and Retention at Yellow Pages Group. “This app has the largest geo-localized bilingual search platform in Canada and offers a measurable return on investment (ROI) for advertisers. Our unique apps are changing the behaviours of Canadian consumers as well as the future of mobile marketing and smart shopping.”
