In a further extension of its commitment to supporting application developer innovation in Canada and to driving additional potential leads to its advertisers, Yellow Pages Group (YPG) announced today its participation in the venue harmonization project of foursquare, a location-based social networking site.
Like contributing partners in this project, YPG adds to the authentication and accuracy of business locations in the foursquare database, as foursquare breaks out venues into a separate API, making location-based app development even easier for developers.
I’m a big fan of Poynt and their local application. And happy that we are in some way contributing to their success by powering their local business searches.
In September 2010, we’ve launched YellowAPI – enabling any developer to build local apps by leveraging our local data.
Yellow Pages Group (YPG), a Canadian leader in local commercial and people search, announced today the BETA launch of YellowAPI.com, the company’s public application programming interface. YellowAPI.com will be open to developers across all platforms, allowing them to stream local search content directly from one of Canada’s largest and most robust business and person databases.
